Resources for Pet Parents
WHS is much more than an adoption center; we’re here for you from the moment you welcome a new pet into your home through the difficult day when you have to say goodbye. We offer training classes, spay/neuter services, vaccine clinics, microchipping, behavior advice, community outreach programs, pet food pantries, rehoming support, shelter for pets of domestic violence survivors, end-of-life care, and more. Our Milwaukee Campus is also home to a wildlife rehabilitation center where we care for injured, sick, or orphaned wild animals, and support even more people by providing support to those who encounter wildlife in need.

Spay/Neuter Services
WHS offers high-quality spay/neuter services for the public at affordable rates. Spaying or neutering helps animals live longer, healthier lives by reducing the risk of certain cancers, infections, and behavioral issues like roaming or aggression. It also prevents unplanned litters, reducing overcrowding in shelters and helping more animals find loving homes.
Vaccine Clinics
Vaccinations are one of the easiest and most effective ways to protect your dog or cat from serious, contagious diseases. At WHS, low-cost vaccine clinics are offered by appointment at all of our locations, making it simple and affordable to keep your pet’s preventive care up to date.

Pet Resource Library
Our team of behavior and veterinary experts has compiled a library of helpful tips, tricks, and advice to support you and your pets. Whether you’re looking to resolve litterbox issues or need tips on dealing with puppy antics, you’ll find answers to these questions and so many more in our library of pet resources.

Wildlife Services
Our wildlife program serves thousands of animals each year and supports even more people by providing support to those who encounter wildlife in need. Our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center admits sick, injured, and orphaned native animals, with the goal of rehabilitating and releasing them back to the wild. We also have a library of resources for those who encounter many of our state’s most common species.

End of Life Services
WHS provides compassionate, low-cost euthanasia services at our Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, and Green Bay Campuses, as well as both communal and private cremation at all six of our shelters.

Pet Food Pantry
The Wisconsin Humane Society’s pet food pantry helps keep people and their pets together by providing food, treats, and cat litter to bridge gaps in accessing these important resources.

Dog Training
Our fun and engaging dog and puppy training classes use reward-based techniques and focus on strengthening the bond between dogs and their owners. Classes are offered at our Milwaukee, Racine, and Ozaukee Campuses.

Private Dog Training
If your dog struggles in a group setting, needs more one-on-one support, or you have unique scheduling needs, consider private training services with our behavior specialist through our Milwaukee Campus or virtually.

Save Haven Sheltering
In partnership with the Sojourner Family Peace Center, the WHS Milwaukee Campus offers up to 60 days of shelter for pets from families affected by domestic violence so their owners can leave an abusive situation and seek safety without fearing for their companion animal.

Rehoming Tools & Support
When it comes to rehoming a pet, there is no greater advocate than the family they’ve known. By pairing tools and advice provided by WHS with the first-hand knowledge you have of your animal’s preferences, habits, and routines, you can find a great match for your pet without ever needing to set foot in a shelter.

Surrender to WHS
We understand that life is unpredictable and there are many circumstances that may prevent you from being able to keep your pet. WHS offers many resources to support you in rehoming an animal and a judgment-free environment for those seeking to surrender an animal to WHS.

Pets for Life Program
Our Pets for Life program supports animals and the people who love them in underserved Milwaukee neighborhoods where access to pet care is extremely limited. Through a consistent, relationship-based community presence and door-to-door outreach, we connect families with free pet care services and remove barriers such as cost and transportation—making it easier for families to get their pets care.

Spay/Neuter Services
In an effort to reduce overpopulation and keep pets healthy, WHS offers low-cost spay/neuter services for dogs and cats, from household pets to barn cats and feral outdoor cats, as well as an income-based program for those on assistance programs.

Vaccine Clinics
Vaccinations are a simple, effective way to protect your pet from serious disease. WHS offers low-cost vaccine clinics for dogs and cats by appointment at all of our locations, making preventive care easy and affordable.

Pet Resource Library
